I recently had a request to include more workwear outfits on my blog (“like” my Facebook page and join in our conversations!). Considering that I spend the majority of my waking hours at my office job, dressing for work is pretty much a no-brainer for me. Now I’m going to try and make it super easy on you too – because seriously, who likes to make decisions at 7:00 AM?
Here’s what you need to dress office chic:
1. A knit top: I wear plain knit tops day after day. Sometimes when I get real fancy I’ll wear silk. The key to mindless dressing is keeping everything super simple – I love solid color tops with special details (flutter sleeve, embellishment, ruffles, etc.).
2. A pencil skirt: Investing in a pencil skirt is a great idea because they will never go out of style and you can wear them year round (throw some tights on underneath for winter). I have pencil skirts in black, gray, and navy and I wear them week after week. Trust me, no one will notice you’re wearing the same thing all the time when it’s a basic piece.
3. Pumps: I love pumps, but you need to be careful when choosing your shoes for the office. I try to stick with conservative heel heights and almost always wear closed-toe. If heels aren’t your thing, try a simple closed-toe wedge or a pretty flat.
If you want to add a little sass to your workwear, stick with one piece at a time. For this outfit, I opted for these beautiful and intricate lace shoes.
