I told you guys that I was going to start incorporating more work looks, so here’s another one! I first saw this gorgeous skirt on Fran and I knew I had to have it. Do you know how hard it is to find knee length skirts in this shape?? It’s hard, ya’ll. Luckily I scored this skirt on sale + a discount code so it was a total bargain (it’s currently marked down to $44.99). I ordered it online and I am very pleased with the fit! If you’re thinking about ordering it, I agree with the reviewers that you should go one size down.
Now here’s where I’m going to start getting real. I love wearing skirts and dresses for work (I only wear slacks once a week). However – since I am about 8-10 pounds heavier now than I was a year ago, a lot of my pencil skirts are too tight and just really unflattering on me. I feel like all of the weight I have gained has gone straight to my lower belly pooch, and that ain’t cute in a pencil skirt. (And no, before you ask, I’m definitely not pregnant). I’ve been searching around for a while now trying to find more flattering skirt shapes for my body, and I LOVE the shape of this one.
Unfortunately, I am fairly tall (5’7″) and it’s tough to find full skirts that are long enough for work. I feel like shorter girls can get away with shorter lengths, but when you’re tall, it just doesn’t work. When I am in a skirt and heels, my thighs are practically eye level to everyone else, and no one wants to see that at work! (Ok, maybe “eye level” is exaggerating a bit).
So for now, I plan to keep hunting down flattering skirts that are work appropriate. If you have any recommendations on where to look, let me know! I also continue to wear my pencil skirts with tops that hide my tummy (peplum styles are great for this!). Til next time!
