We’ve officially made it to day 4 of WEDDING WEEK! I couldn’t go the whole week without stopping to sing the praises of some of our amazing vendors. They did an outstanding job of making sure that all of the details and decor were absolutely perfect!
I knew right off the bat that I wanted our wedding color to be pink…for obvious reasons! Every time someone asked me what my colors were I would answer with “blush pink,” which was usually followed with a blank stare and the question of “but what else? Just pink?” I mean…does white count as one of my colors? Is “greenery” a color? It’s so funny to me how people are just obsessed with wedding colors. While I knew I wanted pink, I spent more time thinking about the vibe and the feel of the event. Since our wedding was outdoors I wanted it to feel natural and laid back…but every time someone said the word “rustic” to me, I turned my nose up. Eventually I settled on a few descriptors – “vintage, romantic, understated English garden.” Somehow the stars all aligned and I ended up with the exact wedding that I had envisioned!
I know absolutely nothing about flowers, y’all. Luckily my florist completely understood where I was going with all of my ideas! Our meeting with the florist ended up being my favorite appointment during the entire wedding planning process. It was so fun to flip through inspiration books and say “I want this, combined with that, but with this feel” and voila, they made it happen! The main flowers that were used were peonies, ranunculus, roses, anemones and a few succulents throughout, with lots of greenery to keep everything feeling natural. I’ll admit that it was a little nerve wracking to not see any of our flowers at all prior to our wedding day, but holy smokes, did they nail it or what?!
George and I have completely opposite tastes when it comes to sweets – I love chocolate and he loves vanilla. I would have liked to have a really decadent or totally unique flavor for our cake, but in the end I defaulted to his decision. I love ALL cake and it wasn’t that big of a deal to me what flavor we chose. We decided on a french vanilla cake with almond buttercream frosting. It was so delicious and turned out to be incredibly beautiful! Our wedding planner even saved us a few pieces and put it in our honeymoon suite so we were able to eat a whole piece and fully enjoy it at the end of the night.
