I recently had the opportunity to experience a fun day of shopping and pampering myself at River Oaks Shopping Center. Despite living so close to the area, I got to stop in several stores that were totally new to me, and I already can’t wait to go back! I wanted to share my experiences with you here, including a fun video at the bottom of the post. In full disclosure, the merchandise and experiences listed here were courtesy of River Oaks Shopping Center. As always, all opinions are my own.
My first stop of the day was at Full Blown Dry Bar, which is a dry bar hair salon that just opened up in April. I got a shampoo and blowout (my first one ever!) by the amazing Krystal, who was so knowledgeable about hair styling and products. I have never been able to curl my hair myself and achieve that tousled, beach wave look that she gave me here. I left with so many pointers and tips that I really feel like I can recreate it at home! Beach waves are really popular for spring right now since summer is just around the corner. Krystal told me that a lot of people who go into the salon are asking for this easygoing, undone look. Since my hair is shorter, she curled it with a one inch curling iron and left the ends out so that I could maintain my hair length while still having a curl. I loved the end result!
If you get a chance, I would highly recommend going to Full Blown for your next blowout or hair styling needs. It’s also a great place to take your mom or a group of girlfriends for a fun pampering experience. The salon definitely feels luxurious and modern, but the staff and owners are so friendly and welcoming that it’s a great place to just hang out and socialize. Don’t forget to ask for a mimosa in order to get the fully awesome experience that they offer.

Brooke Feather is a clothing and accessories boutique that is located just two doors down from Full Blown. When I walked in, I instantly fell in love with this store because it is decorated so beautifully. I loved the cool art on the walls, especially the neon sign pictured in the right hand photo above. Talk about a life motto! This store appeals to the cool, chic, laid-back California girl that we all want to be. This store offers so many trends that are hot for spring right now – bohemian style maxi dresses, tees in the most luxuriously soft fabrics, distressed denim, frayed hems and beautiful suede bags. I came home with a glittery, suede pouch which I plan on keeping in my always-giant purses to help keep me organized.

One of my favorite stops of the day was at Macaron by Patisse, for obvious reasons! It is such an adorable little store. I especially loved the macaron towers with the sparkly Eiffel Tower in the front window display – too cute! I got a dozen macarons to share with George and Neal, and we all had a different opinion on what was the best flavor. George voted for pistachio, Neal voted for blueberry vanilla bean and I personally loved the orange dreamsicle flavor the best. Orange dreamsicle is their seasonal flavor for spring, so if you want to try it I’d suggest you go visit soon! I also did not intend for our selection of macarons to match my floral dress, but it was a happy accident! I feel like all of the beautiful vibrant and pastel colored macarons we selected just make you think of spring. If you’d like to know what flavors they offer – check out their website’s menu here or watch my video below.

My last stop of the day was a visit at Em & Lee, a clothing boutique that offers affordable and trendy clothes for women. I had so much fun browsing through their huge selection of fun dresses, tops, rompers, shorts, etc. I tried on several dresses, but in the end I came home with the black and white printed dresses shown in the right-hand photo above. It is just such a comfortable and easy dress that I feel like I’ll want to wear it all the time. I like it with my white wedges here, but I also think it’d look perfect with some colorful accessories. Em & Lee has a huge selection of clothes in fun colors and prints, so they are a great stop to make if you’re looking for things to wear to your next wedding, graduation or vacation over the next few months. I loved all of the printed shorts they had with fun pom pom embellishments, which are so on-trend for spring and summer. The best part about this boutique is that I didn’t spot anything over $100!

Of course I had to snap some outfit photos while I was out and about! I love this spring-y floral dress with scalloped hems that I picked up at the rodeo back in March. Since the dress is so bright and loud, I paired it with a white Kendra Scott necklace and white wedges. This was the perfect outfit to wear while walking around on such a warm day. We also made a lot of stops at places not mentioned above like Barnes & Noble, Cafe Ginger for lunch, and a few other boutiques. Since Houston is such a car-dependent city, it’s so nice to visit an area where you can just park your car and then walk around all day. River Oaks Shopping Center is pretty large, but it’s easy to just walk around and pop in whatever store looks interesting to you. If you are unfamiliar with the area, the short video I put together below should give you a better idea of what everything looks like. As you can see, River Oaks is such a nice part of town and all of the boutiques are so cute! I hope you enjoy!
