On the last day of our honeymoon, we booked a full day tour of Athens. We had such limited time in Athens that we wanted to be sure we saw as many sites as possible. I’m really glad we did the tour because our tour guide was amazing! We saw the changing of the guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, visited Panathenaic Stadium (home of the first modern Olympic Games), hiked to the top of the Acropolis, had a guided tour through the Acropolis Museum, ate lunch at a delicious taverna with new friends, and rode a bus down the coast to visit Cape Sounion’s Temple of Poseidon (pictured above). If anyone is interested in the tour we did, we booked through Key Tours at our hotel’s front desk, and the tour company’s main office was right next door to our hotel which made everything super easy.
Despite the fact that we had an awesome day, we forgot to bring the camera! Our tour started early in the morning so we were rushing and completely forgot. Once we got on the bus to start the tour, we weren’t able to go back and grab the camera until our lunch break. We still took plenty of photos on our phones, which you can see on Instagram (at the Acropolis Museum and from the top of the Acropolis). Luckily we were at least able to capture these amazing pictures with our real camera from Cape Sounion! We really enjoyed the drive along the coast to get there because the scenery was much more beautiful than we expected from Athens. There are tons of beautiful beach resorts as you drive along the coast. We were really sad that we weren’t able to stay in Athens longer because we would have loved to visit the beaches!
That same evening after the tour, we freshened up at our hotel and then went back out exploring. I wanted to get some last outfit photos from the trip, and do some shopping, but unfortunately it started raining as soon as we got back outside! However, a little rain didn’t to stop me from shopping, and we still managed to snap a few pictures too.
Fun fact – every time I visit a new city, I always make it a point to stop in an H&M and buy something! I started this tradition over 10 years ago, back before Houston had an H&M. I could only find them during my travels, so I would always buy something when I visited a new place. Even though Houston has two H&M’s now, I still make it a point to continue this tradition. I have stuff from H&M from all over the world and the US, and I love seeing pieces in my closet and remembering all the cool places they came from! We just happened to stumble across this huge H&M in Athens (last two photos) while strolling through the Plaka and coming across the shopping heaven that is Ermou Street. We didn’t spend a ton of time in the area, but I did get my souvenir!
Speaking of clothes, I loved wearing this dress and hat combo from Boohoo! I had never ordered anything from Boohoo before, and I was pleasantly surprised by the amazing quality of the pieces when they arrived at my door. They have tons of cute pieces at really affordable prices, so I’d definitely recommend checking them out! They are also currently having a sale where everything is 25% off today, so go now!!
