How fun is this dress? I originally bought it for my birthday party back in December, but I recently wore it again for a belated Valentine’s dinner with my husband. My birthday party was ’13 Going on 30′ themed, so I wanted to find a dress that appealed to my 13-year-old-in-the-90’s self. I searched high and low trying to find the perfect dress…I think I was secretly hoping that Jennifer Garner’s dress from the movie would just suddenly appear to me. Obviously it didn’t, and so with just a few days left until my party I turned to my best and most reliable friend – Amazon Prime. I had never ordered clothes before on Amazon, but I lucked out in a major way when this dress arrived on my doorstep one day before my party and miraculously fit me. I love the abstract plaid print – it’s a fun nod to the 90’s but still feels modern and fresh. I know that my 13 year old self would have loved this dress. I mean…it has pink and a ruffly skirt, so….yes. Sold.
Anyway, fast forward a couple months and I had the chance to wear this dress again. George and I went out for dinner at Reef, one of my favorite restaurants in Houston. I paired this dress with my beautiful new heels from French Connection. George happened to see a girl at the restaurant staring at my shoes, and I can’t blame her. I like to stare at them too!
One funny thing about the night is that I had worn a clutch from Le Tote and earrings from Rocksbox out to dinner. In case you are unfamiliar with the companies – both are subscription services where you wear, return, repeat as much as you’d like for a monthly fee. After our dinner, we went by the post office to drop off both packages in the mail. I had to take everything out of my clutch, take the earrings off, package everything up, and drop them in the mail slot. I felt like Cinderella at the end of the night! George was just laughing at me. The things we do for fashion…
