Dear Banana Republic, Thank you for making this perfect ruffled sleeve top. It has stripes, which is my favorite print. It’s black and white, which is my favorite color combination. The ruffle sleeves are totally bomb. It’s flowy, but not too loose, so I can wear it on both my skinny days and fat days and always feel confident. It washes and dries beautifully without needing to be ironed. I can wear it for work or weekends. The festive sleeves make me want to shimmy and dance. I’m thinking about buying it in all the colors & prints it comes in. Thank you for making the perfect shirt. Love, Miranda

Denim Off the Shoulder Dress

Let me start off by saying that my mom told me this denim off the shoulder dress looks like something she would have worn in the 80’s. I already loved this dress, but that comment made me love it even more! Does that make me a total weirdo? It’s so interesting to me that every trend from the past eventually makes it back into fashion. I know the 80’s wasn’t the most fashionable or flattering decade, but people had fun with their styling choices! Sometimes you just need to inject a little bit of fun and playfulness into your wardrobe, you know? I definitely tend to be drawn to versatile and no-fuss clothing, but I still like to have fun with my clothes. I think this dress falls into the versatile yet playful, might-regret-this-next-year, silly but not totally crazy category. It makes a statement, but I can style it a million ways and wear it all spring and summer long.

Another reason why I love this dress so much is because I felt really good in it. To be honest, it’s been a long time since I’ve felt great in my clothes. I’ve gained some weight since our wedding and the impending doom of summer is really stressing me out. In the mornings I find myself just standing in my closet, staring at my clothes for minutes on end trying to decide what would make me look halfway decent. I’m dangerously close to just giving up and wearing leggings every day. Luckily I have this blog and a job that forces me to get dressed and look put together on a daily basis. ANYWAY, the point is that this dress made me feel cute and I didn’t look too fat in it. Here’s hoping I can add more items like that to my closet soon!

Greek Fest Style

This past weekend, I made my first ever trip to the annual Greek Festival in Houston. I’ve always wanted to go – I even lived within walking distance from it for a few years – and this year I finally decided that I had to be there! George and I have been missing Greece so much after our honeymoon there this summer that we thought it would be fun to go and reminisce. We took the kiddo and met up with one of his friends from school, and they had lots of fun playing in the kids area and being crazy little boys. I enjoyed perusing the gift shop, which sold lots of similar items you’d find in Greece like homemade soaps, olive oil, jewelry and art. I think George and I would both agree that the food was the best part though! We chowed down on pastitsio, tiropita, spanakopita, keftedes and Greek salad…my only regret is that my stomach didn’t have room for more food! I would have loved a gyro or baklava, but I guess that just means we should go out for Greek food soon!

Can we also talk about the beautiful weather we’ve been having lately? It has finally cooled down enough to where being outside is actually enjoyable. The mornings are cool and breezy, but the afternoons are still warm. I loved getting a chance to re-wear this white dress from our engagement pictures, which I paired with my denim jacket. Honestly, it was still a little too warm outside to have worn a jacket, but I had to wear the Greek colors for Greek Fest, so whatever!
